K3 clutches in listed applications are applied in 3rd, 5th and Reverse Gears in conjunction with other clutch packs. As the K3 clutch control valve oscillates and strokes over time, bore deterioration results, which prevents proper hydraulic control of the K3 clutch pack. This can cause flares, slipping, erratic clutch apply timing, ratio codes, bind-ups and burnt K3 clutches. Reconditioning the bore and installing Sonnax oversized K3 clutch control valve kit 15741-59K restores normal shift operation by re-establishing the hydraulic integrity of the K3 circuit.
