For maximum performance from your turbocharged engine, you need a performance intercooler you can rely on. Turbochargers & accessories are just the beginning! Cooling that compressed air down helps to ensure that your engine can maximise fuel combustion for more power and more speed. But where do you get your hands on high-performance intercoolers that won’t cost you an arm and a leg? VPW, of course!
As serious car lovers ourselves, we’ve compiled a wide selection of intercooler products, including intercooler piping (and intercooler piping kits), so you can get the performance you want from your turbocharged engine. Meticulously constructed from premium materials using advanced welding techniques, our intercooler piping/hoses, as well as our intercooler pipe kits, ensure optimal intercooler efficiency. Additionally, we can offer you performance turbo intercoolers that are big on value.
If a universal intercooler kit is just the beginning of your car’s transformation, we’ve got you covered, too. At VPW, we have a range of affordable and quality car parts to help you with whatever car project you’re working on. Whether you’re restoring that classic car, upgrading your current ride into an enviable racer, or installing air con kits for comfort, all you need to do is start browsing our online store.
And if speed is the name of the game, we’ve got plenty to help you enhance your car’s power while reducing weight for max efficiency. For instance, try one of our nitrous kits to get that extra speed to close the gaps in tough races. Then, ensure you can glide through to that finish line by losing some weight with a swap to mag wheels.

An intercooler cools the compressed air coming from a turbocharger or supercharger before it enters the engine. Cooler air is denser, which improves fuel combustion, boosts power, and helps the engine run more efficiently. Alongside radiators, intercoolers play a crucial role in regulating engine temperatures for optimal performance.
While you can drive a car with a broken intercooler, we don’t recommend doing so. Damaged air-to-air intercoolers can cause higher intake air temperatures, reduced power, poor fuel efficiency, and potential engine damage if left unrepaired. It’s best to fix or replace it promptly.
An intercooler itself doesn’t damage an engine, but a damaged or blocked intercooler can. If it fails, it can cause hot intake air, poor combustion, reduced power, and in severe cases, engine knock or overheating, which can lead to engine damage over time.
It depends on use, but as a rule of thumb:
Cleaning helps remove oil, dirt, and debris that can reduce airflow and cooling efficiency, keeping your turbocharged engine performing at its best.
Not to every car — intercoolers are only needed for turbocharged or supercharged engines. Naturally aspirated (NA) engines don’t compress intake air, so they don’t benefit from an intercooler.
For turbo or supercharged vehicles, you can usually fit a compatible intercooler, but the size, piping, and mounting must match the engine and engine bay layout.
Select a size based on your engine’s power and boost level, as well as the available space in your engine bay. Larger cores handle more airflow and higher boost, but must fit your car without causing lag. For modest upgrades, a medium-core is usually enough; for high-power builds, a larger core helps prevent heat soak and maintain performance. Always check piping, inlet/outlet sizes, and mounting compatibility.
